The 15-Day Online Faculty Development Program on Python Programming, Generative AI & Advanced Tools for Pharmaceutical Sciences, Academics and Research was conducted from August 14 to 28, 2026, by Al-Ameen College of Pharmacy, Bengaluru, in association with Scrollwell.

The Faculty Development Program focused on the practical use of Python programming, data analytics, Generative AI, and advanced digital tools. It aimed to help participants understand how these technologies can support pharmaceutical sciences, academics, and research.

Event Highlights

The Python programming sessions, led by Ms. Arpana Chaturvedi, began with the fundamentals of Python. Participants explored variables, data types, strings, libraries, conditional statements, and loops. The sessions gradually moved towards data structures and their practical use in managing pharmaceutical records and research-related data.

The training then covered NumPy and CSV file handling, followed by Pandas for working with pharmaceutical datasets. Participants learned about data cleaning, grouping, and aggregation. They were also introduced to Matplotlib and data visualization to understand how data can be presented effectively. The Python component included project-based learning and a mini-project to encourage practical application. Applications related to bioinformatics and predictive modeling were also discussed.

The Generative AI sessions, led by Mr. Roshan Singh, focused on the growing role of AI in academic and research workflows. Participants explored ways to use Generative AI for research tasks, discover relevant literature through AI-powered tools, and improve academic writing and editing.

The sessions further introduced participants to advanced prompt engineering strategies and the integration of AI with reference management platforms such as Zotero and Mendeley. The program concluded its AI component with discussions on AI ethics, responsible AI use, and plagiarism, helping participants understand the importance of using AI appropriately in academic and research environments.

Learning Outcomes

Through the Faculty Development Program on Python and Generative AI, participants gained a strong foundation in Python programming and its applications in pharmaceutical data analysis. They learned to work with Python fundamentals, data structures, CSV files, NumPy, and Pandas. The sessions also covered data cleaning, grouping, aggregation, and visualization using Matplotlib. Participants were introduced to applications of Python in bioinformatics and predictive modeling.

In addition, participants developed an understanding of how Generative AI can support academic and research workflows. They explored AI tools for literature discovery, academic writing, editing, research support, and productivity. The program also introduced advanced prompt engineering and the use of AI with reference management tools such as Zotero and Mendeley. Furthermore, participants gained awareness of AI ethics, responsible AI use, and plagiarism in academic and research environments.

Participation Details

The 15-day format provided participants with a structured learning journey. The program progressed from Python fundamentals and data analytics to Generative AI and advanced academic tools.

Live online sessions allowed participants to interact directly with the resource persons and explore practical examples. Moreover, recorded sessions supported revision and continued learning after the live classes.

By combining programming, data analytics, and Generative AI, the FDP provided participants with a broader understanding of emerging technologies in modern pharmaceutical education and research.

Feedback

The FDP provided an opportunity to learn both foundational and emerging technologies through an application-oriented approach.

The combination of Python programming and Generative AI made the program relevant to current academic and research needs. Practical demonstrations also helped participants understand how these technologies can be incorporated into their professional workflows.

Moreover, access to recorded sessions enabled participants to revisit important concepts and strengthen their understanding after each session.
