Job Title and Research Project

Position: Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad
Research Project: Mechanisms of Chimeric Peptide Production and Targeting Dipeptide Repeat Toxicity in C9orf72-associated ALS/FTD
Funding Agency: Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India

This project aims to investigate the production and mechanisms of chimeric peptides and their role in neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) and FTD (Frontotemporal Dementia). The selected candidate will play a vital role in laboratory experiments, data analysis, and contributing to publications.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification:
  • M.Tech in any area of Life Sciences/Biotechnology
  • MSc in Life Sciences/Biotechnology or allied disciplines
  • B.Tech/B.Pharm/BE (4-year degree) in relevant areas
  • BVSc or MBBS with a minimum of 60% marks
  • Degrees must be awarded by recognized universities
• Desirable Experience:
  • Laboratory skills in molecular biology, peptide synthesis, or related areas
  • Familiarity with cell culture, bioinformatics tools, or biochemical assays
  • Prior research publications will be an advantage
• Age Limit: Below 35 years as of 15th September 2025, with relaxations as per Government of India norms

Fellowship and Duration

• Fellowship:
  • Rs. 37,000 + HRA for candidates selected through GATE/CSIR-UGC NET or other national-level exams
  • Rs. 31,000 + HRA for other eligible candidates
• Duration: 7 months, with possible extension depending on performance and availability of funding
