The International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) is inviting applications for the Arturo Falaschi Short-term Postdoctoral Fellowship. About the Fellowship

The Arturo Falaschi Short-term Postdoctoral Fellowship is intended to fund ongoing collaborative research projects between scientists from ICGEB Member States and research groups at ICGEB laboratories. The programme’s vision is to:

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following conditions to be considered:

  1. Nationality – Candidates must be nationals of an ICGEB Member State. (Applicants may not apply to undertake research in their home country, unless they have been abroad for at least 3 years prior to application.)
  2. Academic Qualification
    • Hold a recent Ph.D. in Life Sciences, OR
    • Have at least 3 years of research experience in a relevant field.
  3. Research Proposal – Applicants must propose a collaborative project in line with ICGEB research programmes.
  4. Language Requirement – Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English.

Application Process

The application process involves the following steps:

  1. Contact ICGEB Group Leader/Principal Investigator (PI):
    • Applicants should reach out directly to an ICGEB Group Leader of their choice with a motivation letter.
    • The Group Leader must confirm availability of lab space and willingness to supervise.
    • A written statement of support from the ICGEB PI is mandatory for application.
  2. Prepare Documents: Applicants need to prepare and upload the following documents in PDF format:
    • Full Curriculum Vitae (CV) with research experience and publications.
    • Written statement from the ICGEB Group Leader supporting the project.
    • Valid passport or national identity card (passport recommended with at least 12 months’ validity).
    • English language proficiency certificate (not required if prior education was in English).
    • A well-defined research project proposal.
  3. Submission: Applications must be submitted online via the official ICGEB application system.

Selection Process

  • Applications will be reviewed by the ICGEB Fellowships Selection Committee.
  • Both successful and unsuccessful candidates will be notified via email only.
  • The evaluation process may take several weeks, depending on the number of applications received.
