The 03 Day Technical Workshop on Systematic Literature Review & Research Gaps was successfully conducted from March 16 to March 18, 2026. The workshop aimed to equip educators, researchers, and postgraduate students with a structured and methodological approach to conducting high-quality Systematic Literature Reviews (SLR).
The sessions focused on strengthening research foundations by linking theoretical concepts with practical applications. Participants learned how to move from broad literature exploration to identifying precise and defensible research gaps. As a result, the workshop supported the development of methodologically sound and academically rigorous research practices.
Event Highlights
During the workshop, participants explored the fundamentals of Systematic Literature Review and the importance of structured research design. The sessions clearly explained the difference between research problems and research gaps, helping participants understand how gaps emerge from existing studies.
The workshop also focused on developing effective search strategies using academic databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Participants learned to construct advanced search queries using Boolean operators and apply inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure relevant and unbiased literature selection.
In addition, the sessions introduced the PRISMA 2020 protocol and guided participants through its stages, including identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion. The workshop further covered data extraction and thematic synthesis, enabling participants to organize literature into meaningful themes and structure their research work effectively.
Participation Details
The 03 Day Technical Workshop on Systematic Literature Review & Research Gaps saw active participation from educators, researchers, and postgraduate students across various disciplines. The online format ensured accessibility while maintaining a highly interactive learning environment.
Participants engaged in discussions, raised research-related queries, and explored practical examples aligned with their academic work. They also received access to recorded sessions and learning resources, which will support continued learning beyond the workshop.
Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants developed a clear understanding of Systematic Literature Review methodology and research gap identification. They learned how to construct effective search strategies, apply PRISMA guidelines, and organize literature systematically.
The workshop also enhanced their ability to present research findings in a structured and coherent manner. As a result, participants gained greater confidence in conducting high-quality research and developing well-defined research proposals.
Feedback
Participants appreciated the clarity, structure, and practical orientation of the sessions. Many highlighted that the workshop simplified complex research concepts and provided actionable guidance for conducting literature reviews.
The focus on real-world application and step-by-step explanation made the workshop highly relevant for academic and research purposes.
