Jadavpur University, one of India’s most prestigious higher education institutions, traces its origins back to the early 20th century. In 1910, the Society for the Promotion of Technical Education in Bengal merged with the National Council of Education (NCE), which managed the Bengal Technical Institute—later known as the College of Engineering and Technology, Bengal.
By 1940, the institute had evolved into a university-level institution, and following India’s Independence, the Government of West Bengal, in collaboration with the Government of India, officially established Jadavpur University on December 24, 1955.
Today, Jadavpur University is recognized nationally and internationally for its excellence in teaching, research, and community service across diverse disciplines including engineering, science, humanities, social sciences, and arts.
Position Overview
Jadavpur University, Kolkata invites eligible candidates for a Guest Faculty position in the Department of Adult, Continuing Education & Extension for the academic year 2025–2026.

Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates must hold an M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication (Day course) or a related discipline.
- Applicants with Ph.D., NET, or SET qualifications will be preferred.
- Strong communication skills and subject expertise in mass media and print journalism are essential.
- Passion for teaching and academic engagement in the field of media studies is desirable.
Remuneration
Selected candidates will receive an honorarium of ₹500 per hour, as per university norms.
