About the Institution
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) was established in 1920 at Aligarh in the United Provinces of India and became a Central University in 1988 through an Act of the Indian Parliament. The term Jamia means “University” and Millia means “National” in Urdu.
From its modest beginnings during the pre-independence era, JMI has evolved into a premier central university located in New Delhi, offering education ranging from nursery to advanced research programs. Eligibility Criteria
For Assistant Professor (Contractual) in Engineering & Technology:
- B.E. / B.Tech. / B.S. and M.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. or Integrated M.Tech. in relevant branch.
- Candidates must have obtained first class or equivalent in any one of the degrees.
Life Sciences & Biotechnology:
- M.Sc. in Mathematics/Biostatistics with specialization in Research/Teaching in any area of biological sciences.
Social Sciences & Other Subjects:
- A Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the relevant subject.
- Must have cleared NET/SET conducted by UGC/CSIR or equivalent tests, OR hold a Ph.D. degree in compliance with UGC regulations (2009/2016 and amendments).
Ph.D. Specific Requirements (Exemption from NET/SET):
- Awarded in regular mode only.
- Thesis evaluated by two external examiners.
- Open viva voce successfully completed.
- At least two research papers published, one in a refereed journal.
- Two paper presentations in recognized conferences/seminars.
- Foreign Ph.D. degrees from universities ranked within Top 500 globally (QS, THE, ARWU).
