AKRUTI Programme 2025: Apply Now
The AKRUTI Programme, initiated by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and implemented through BARC, aims to deploy societal and non-power applications (NPAs) to improve livelihoods in rural and interior areas using indigenous technology. The initiative promotes entrepreneurship, training, and technology dissemination via local implementation centers called AKRUTI Kendras.
Objective
To bridge the urban-rural technology divide by:
- Deploying DAE-BARC technologies for local use.
- Generating rural livelihoods through techno-preneurship.
- Encouraging knowledge sharing and skill development.
AKRUTI Kendra: What Is It?
An AKRUTI Kendra is a non-commercial facility set up by eligible institutions to:
- Demonstrate DAE-BARC technologies.
- Train individuals (KRUTIK members).
- Translate and disseminate technology information.
- Eventually evolve into commercial production units (upon registration).
Can be set up by:
- Educational institutions
- Government bodies/PSUs
- Science parks/food parks
- NGOs and private firms (CSR/self-funded)
Scope of an AKRUTI Kendra
- Display, demonstration, and training using DAE-BARC technologies.
- Enroll KRUTIK members for community training and production.
- Translate documents and conduct outreach in local language.
- Apply for commercial licenses to manufacture and sell BARC technology-based products.
Eligibility Criteria
- Any educational institution, company, or individual with the capability to manage facilities, manpower, and finances.
- Must operate on a budget-neutral basis for BARC.
- Should register as a legal entity within 3 years.
- Must apply through an official Expression of Interest (EOI) and submit the Institutional Information Form (IIF).
Steps to Establish AKRUTI Kendra
- Visit Technology Portal:

- Expresses your intent to set up an AKRUTI Kendra.

- Collects details of your organization, infrastructure, and team.
- 📄 Expression of Interest (EOI) Form
- Email the completed forms to the contact provided in the BARC EOI advertisement.
- Attend training at BARC (for faculty/instructors).
- Set up the AKRUTI Kendra and begin operations under non-commercial mode.
- Register your Kendra as a legal entity and apply for commercial licenses (within 3 years).
Types of Operation
1. Non-Commercial Mode
- Knowledge sharing & training only.
- No tech transfer fee.
- No production/sales.
2. Commercial Mode (Post-registration)
- Apply for commercial licenses from BARC.
- Manufacture and sell products under AKRUTI branding.
- Eligible to receive incentives (up to 70% of Technology Transfer Fee).

- Individuals enrolled with an AKRUTI Kendra.
- Trained in DAE-BARC technologies.
- May manufacture under a registered Kendra’s license.
- Paid honorarium as per the institute’s norms.

Responsibilities
BARC:

AKRUTI Kendra/Institute:
- Set up and maintain facilities.

- Apply for registration and commercial licenses.
