Scrollwell conducted a 10-Day National Level Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Generative AI & Prompt Engineering for Educators from November 10 to November 19, 2025. The program was designed to help educators and researchers build strong foundational and practical skills in Generative AI, prompt design, and AI-assisted academic workflows. Each session provided structured demonstrations, guided exercises, and discussions on responsible and effective integration of AI tools in teaching, research, and institutional tasks.
Topics Covered
The FDP began with a foundational introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Generative Models, helping participants understand the evolution, capabilities, and academic significance of these technologies. The sessions followed by comprehensive sessions on prompt engineering, focusing on clarity, structure, and techniques for generating accurate, context-aware outputs.
Participants explored various approaches to designing prompts—such as zero-shot, few-shot, chain-of-thought, and role-based prompting—and learned how these methods enhance academic writing, documentation, and content development. The program also included practical training on developing reusable prompts, enabling participants to streamline repetitive academic and administrative tasks.
Hands-on demonstrations were conducted using leading AI platforms including ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, and Perplexity, showcasing their applicability in lesson planning, literature support, data organization, and academic writing. Additional sessions examined how large language models operate, the principles behind their outputs, and the ethical dimensions of using AI responsibly in education.
Participants further learned how prompt engineering supports programming tasks, research automation, and digital productivity. Culminating in a project where each educator created a personal prompt toolkit for their professional use.
Participation Details
A total of 60 participants from higher education institutions across India attended the FDP. Faculty members, research scholars, and academic professionals from multiple disciplines engaged actively in discussions, hands-on activities, and collaborative exercises, enriching the learning environment with diverse perspectives.
Outcomes
By the end of the program, participants had:
- Gained strong foundational knowledge of Generative AI and prompt engineering.
- Built skills in academic content creation, questionnaire design, document preparation, and workflow automation using AI tools.
- Learned to customize prompts and manage multi-model workflows for research and teaching.
- Developed awareness of ethical, responsible, and safe AI usage in academic settings.
- Created a personalized Prompt Toolkit adaptable to institutional and individual needs.
These outcomes equipped participants to confidently integrate AI-driven methodologies into their professional and academic practices.
