Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the Rama Mehta Writing Grant 2025, applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Gender Requirement

2. Connection to Rajasthan

Applicants must have a connection to Rajasthan in at least one of the following ways:

  • Born in Rajasthan
  • Married into a Rajasthani family
  • Completed education in Rajasthan
  • Lived in Rajasthan for a significant period

3. Publishing Status

  • Only unpublished writers are eligible. This means that applicants should not have published:
    • A full-length book
    • A collection of short stories
    • A short story in an anthology by a traditional publisher
  • However, writers who have self-published or have had their work featured in newspapers or journals can apply.

1. Financial Assistance

Each selected writer (one per language) will receive a ₹25,000 grant to support their writing journey.

2. Mentorship and Workshops

Shortlisted candidates will have the opportunity to attend workshops conducted by renowned writers from different languages. These workshops will focus on:

  • Improving language and expression
  • Structuring compelling narratives
  • Understanding the publishing process

3. Recognition and Exposure

  • Names of shortlisted candidates will be announced on the official website.

Important Notes

  • The grant is open to all age groups, but candidates below 18 years of age must be accompanied by a guardian for the workshops.
  • The jury’s decision is final. No appeals or requests for reconsideration will be entertained.
