Open Scite

Shows whether other research supports or contradicts a paper, so you can judge claims better.

What is Scite?

Scite helps you see how a research paper has been cited. It shows whether later studies support, contradict or just mention its findings. It also has an assistant that answers questions using real research with citations.

Think of it as a reputation check for research papers.

What you can do with it

  • Smart Citations: see if a paper is supported or disputed
  • Research assistant: answers with references to real papers
  • Check claims: find evidence for or against a statement
  • Build reference lists: find reliable sources for writing
  • Browser extension: see citation info while you browse

Get started in 3 steps

  1. Go to scite.ai and create an account
  2. Search for a paper or topic, or ask the assistant a question
  3. Look at the supporting and contrasting citation counts

Try this today

  • Search a well-known study and check how it's been cited
  • Ask: "What evidence is there that homework improves learning?"
  • Install the extension and browse a research article

Good to know

  • Limited free use: most features need a paid plan after the trial
  • Read the context: a "contrasting" citation isn't always a disagreement
  • Best for academic work: not for everyday questions
