- Title: 7 Days Faculty Development Program on Data Analysis using SPSS
- Organized by: Scrollwell
- Date: October 14 – 20, 2025
- Time: 07:00 PM – 08:00 PM (IST)
- Mode: Online via Zoom
- Participants: 95
- Resource Person: Dr. Prabal Chakraborty, Professor, Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth, Haryana

This Faculty development program was designed to equip educators, researchers, and academic professionals with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills required to perform statistical analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics. The FDP covered a range of analytical techniques—descriptive statistics, correlation, regression, factor, and cluster analysis—helping participants apply data-driven decision-making in their research and teaching.
The sessions followed a structured, step-by-step approach that enabled participants to move from data handling fundamentals to advanced analytical applications, ensuring they could confidently use SPSS for academic and professional research purposes.
Topics Covered
Introduction to SPSS, Data Coding, and Tabulation
Overview of SPSS, interface and functionalities, data input methods, coding and labeling variables, data cleaning
Descriptive Statistics
Computation of mean, median, mode, range, variance, and standard deviation; visualizing data with histograms, box plots, and scatter plots; conducting normality tests and distribution analysis.
Correlation and Regression Analysis & Interpretation of Data
Understanding correlation types (Pearson, Spearman, Kendall), performing simple and multiple regression analysis and validating models using real-time datasets.
Factor Analysis on SPSS
Concept and application of factor analysis, performing exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and principal component analysis (PCA), interpreting factor loadings, and scree plots.
Cluster Analysis
Introduction to clustering techniques, hierarchical and K-means clustering, identifying optimal cluster numbers, and applying clustering for market segmentation and academic research.
Project, Evaluation, and Interpretation
Hands-on project implementation, applying learned statistical techniques to real-world data, presentation of findings, group discussions, and Q&A with closing remarks.
Participation Details
The FDP witnessed active participation from 95 faculty members and researchers representing various academic disciplines across India.
Participants engaged in hands-on sessions, interactive discussions, and case-based exercises, ensuring a practical understanding of statistical analysis
Outcomes
By the end of the FDP, participants achieved:
- Proficiency in navigating and using SPSS for data analysis.
- Ability to perform descriptive, inferential, and multivariate statistical analyses.
- Confidence in interpreting data outputs and presenting results effectively.
- Enhanced research skills applicable to academic publications and institutional data work.
