Google Bengaluru invites job applications for the post of System Administrator of the year 2021. Our computational challenges are so big, complex and unique we can’t just purchase off-the-shelf hardware, we’ve got to make it ourselves. Your team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google’s services.

As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world’s largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of relevant experience implementing, maintaining and supporting the Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and supporting compute/storage/network infrastructure systems and solutions.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Familiarity with supporting and administering cloud services, experience with cloud computing.
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, partner management, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent Linux/Unix skills.
Responsibilities
  • Provide first/second line support for all compute, storage, and networking infrastructure issues for the local team
  • Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms like automation, and evolve systems by pushing for changes that improve reliability, velocity and efficiency
  • Set-up alerting, reports, and dashboards for monitoring overall system health
  • Plan and implement optimizations for network, compute, and storage systems being used.
